the back story
Armor Graphics is an exciting new venture… or should I say, “Adventure”?
I have always enjoyed arts and graphics dating back to my childhood. Of course back then I didn’t have access to tinker around on the internet like I do now. My exposure to creating on the internet began nearly a decade ago when I took it upon myself to try to “update” the website of the engineering firm I was working for. Knowing nothing, at the time, about the html I discovered buried just beneath the surface of the site, I simply started studying it and discovering what was going on in the code that was displaying our site. …and so my adventure began.
Over the last several years I have done a lot of ‘tinkering’, updating, and building of website content. Social sites such as MySpace gave me a playground and a learning platform. This inevitably led to my purchasing a handful of domain names and a hosting account.
Meanwhile, I have been one of the webmasters for Vineyard of Gainesville and have created new and updated ministry sites for the church using WordPress as a content management system. I also used WordPress to build my ‘other’ company website to promote my services as a GIS Consultant.
There was a time in my life when my ‘day job’ as a GIS consultant was carrying me along fine, but there was this urging in my heart to do more in graphics design. (another way of saying that I had more ‘fun’ creating in graphics design than I did in consulting.
I believe in God and feel that God has been leading me more and more into the graphic design field. My first work, as I’ve described was either as a part of my employment or as a volunteer. Recently, however, I have been asked to do some paid work in this ‘fun’ field.
One such project was a Vineyard church plant (new church being established) in the Oxford, Florida area. This site was underway when I was asked by the Gainesville area Director of Surfers USA to design business cards for him. Then I jumped at the opportunity to be part of the emerging non-profit organization “Society Promotions” as their webmaster, part of their graphics design team and a business consultant.
I am excited about what God is opening up for me in this field and would love to work with other “kingdom based” (a.k.a. Christian or otherwise social outreach) organizations to build, host and maintain your website. Armor Graphics is hear to strengthen your web presence. Ask us how.
